Hey Lightninrod,
I have been looking at the Antares AR and it looks and sounds great. Do you have one or used one??? I have 4 TD-Z's now, and love them all, but I also have a couple of Scorpion Metanium MG's, and I think I like them nearly as well. I have always liked Shimano's drag system. It may be in my mind, because I've used them so long, but it seems like I can cast better with Shimano!!! What about the Antares MG??? I throw a lot of heavier stuff and need something that will stand up to it. Besides, the TD-Z's are so expensive I hate to use them because I don't want to get a scratch on 'em!!!

Andy: I have three Antares ARs and love using them. IMO, they are a little 'hardier/stouter' than my TDZs. I think their drag(Dartanium) system is superior to the TDZ's. Therfore, I pitch a jig, throw a swimbait(heavy weight), and C-rig with my Antares ARs. Don't hesitate to get one Cool .

Dan

I'm starting to think all you guys are one and the same, and you go by"JUN"!!! Oh well, I'll call him just the same. Thanks for the info. I keep going to look at that reel anyway, might as well get a closer look.

Hey Guys,

Sorry... been busy of late and not able to keep up with the forums as I once did....

Andy, just saw your question to me regarding the Alphas.. YES, I like the reel overall. The format of our reviews on TackleTour allows us to take objective views and ratings on each product because we have to rate them against specific categories. The benefit to consumers is, you can read through and decide if whether the points we like or dislike are important to you as well.

If you haven't yet acted but are still considering the Antares AR, might I suggest you wait a bit. There's an article in the works you may find interesting Twisted Evil

In the meantime, keep in mind that any of the Antares/Calais MG reels are not true MG reels - this designation simply refers to the spool AND this spool is only available in the 200 series reels, not the Antares AR/Calais 100a.

Thanks, and let me know when it's out!!! I'm fixin' to go over and take this pile of reels that I've bought, along with the 11 Kistler rods I now have, and let Trey & Clifford tell me what I need, what I need to get rid of or add to. I just got a box from Japantackle with 9 new reels, and a TD-Z type R+ on the way. I know I need a couple more rods to finish me off!!!
