I prefer the HE70MC for any and all(except heavier swimbaits) treble-hook baits. It's 'soft' tip helps keep me from ripping the hooks out. I caught two 5+lb Bass recently that had only two points of the rear treble hook in each of them; one int upper, outer-lip and the other in the outside of her 'face'. I don't think I would have hooked much less landed those two with any other rod. IMO, the MH and the H rods would be too 'stiff' for that bait.

Hank,

I've tried both rods for lipless cranks and prefer the He69APC. It has a softer tip than the He70MHC. I've not missed a hit with a lipless crank yet on my 69 and have lost at least one on the 70. Haven't tried the lipless crank on my He70MC, but have fished other cranks on it and agree it makes a nice horizontal bait rod too. The 69 has just a little more power is all.

Hank, I have both the 70MC and the 69APC. I throw a lot of cranks and prefer the 69APC for the lipless stuff. As SD said, the 69 has a touch more backbone which helps when burning the lipless stuff. Wink Either rod will work for the application, it is really a matter of personal preference. Just buy both. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

I would agree, either the 69APC or the 70MC would be better. I use the 70MC for the 1/4oz traps and small crankbaits and 69APC for the 1/2oz traps and spinner baits.

My 6'9APC has become my buzzbait rod, so I throw lipless on my 70MC and love it. I'm sure you would be happy with either...

The reality is, Hank, you probably will end up buying both because you can't just have one Helium stick Smile ... for that matter.. not sure if you can have just two either.. or three.. or.... Smile

Hank, I like the 70MH for traps. The reason is because the area where I fish has a lot of hydrilla. The medium heavy is good for ripping traps through the hydrilla. I like the 7' for the distance. You also have to turn the fish and keep them from getting down in the hydrilla.
