I just returned from a Canadian fishing trip, mainly for smallmouth. I brought a Kistler Helium LTA medium 6'6" spinning rod with me, it was my first chance to use it in earnest. Along with that particular rod I brought a St. Croix Avid, a St. Croix Legend Tournament, a Cabela's XMLTi and an Airrus Puls-R with me. The Puls-R and the Legend Tournament were baitcasters while the Avid and XMLTi were also spinning rods . While they all served me well, the Kistler was hands down my favorite. None of the other rods matched the sensitivity that the Kistler displayed and from a strength standpoint, I felt like it could have handled a large musky if necessary. It did land a 32" northern (I know, nothing to brag about) with ease though. I'm heading back up with my wife at the end of July and fully intend on having a 7' LTA or LTX baitcaster by then. Kistler, you have earned a fan.

You are very kind to tell us your experience. Thank you so much for the kind words toward our company. We certainly appreciate it very much.
These types of comments keep the fire under our people going. We love to hear the good and the bad so that we can continue to create rods that enhance the anglers fishing experience.
Catch a big one and have fun!

I'll have to completely agree with Upside on the qaulity of your rods.
I too have recently returned from a Canadian Fly-in trip, and I used a Helium 6'9'' spinning rod on that trip for the first time. (He2M69S)
It is my first Kislter rod, but it won't be my last.
When I left for the trip I took 4 rods.
1) Allstar P843MS (7' Light spinning)
2) Falcon EC-7-M (7' Med Casting)
3) G. Loomis SMR813C-SP ( 6'9'' MH Casting)
4) Kistler He2M69S ......
My Kistler put the rest of those rods to shame, for real!!!
Let me just say I have purchased my last G. Loomis rod. There is no need to look any further than Kistler for the best rods money can buy.
You guys (and ladies) make great rods.
Keep up the good work, and I'll keep on catchin lunkers for ya

Same story. Just got back from Canada for the second time this year and my LTA was my go to rod once again. I wish I could put into words the difference between it and my St.Croix Avid that I was using. The smallmouth bait was off to say the least and the only thing that worked with any consistency was a 1/16 oz. black maribu jig dragged and jigged across the bottom. With the Avid I was having problems feeling the bottom but with the LTA I could feel every nook and cranny I happened across. I hate to sound like a suck-up but you guys truly do know how to make a sensitive rod. In 4 days of fishing Rainy Lake my LTA spinning rod was the only one where I really felt in control of the situation.
Next trip up there is in late September for large Northern Pike. I said it before and didn't do it but this time, I will have a 7' medium heavy LTX by then to attack them with. Can't wait and thanks Trey for producing a truly quality rod.

10 days away! Got my LTX m/h casting rod and my LTA medium spinning rod. Just talked to the lodge owner where we're staying and both the smallies and the pike are starting to move into the shallows. I am juiced! This is going to be the trip where the 5.5 pound smallmouth and 25 pound pike personal best records are shattered. Pictures forthcoming!

Well, the 5.5 pound smallmouth record was broken......by my wife! On my Kistler LTA spinning rod and a new Shimano Stradic she landed a 21" smallie with almost a 17" girth, it had to have gone 6 pounds easily. Just a beautiful fish. She's not an experienced angler and didn't handle the rod properly but it took everything that she and the fish could dish out with ease. She also caught an 8 pound walleye on the same rod. I was jealous and happy as heck for her at the same time.
Best I could muster up was about a 4 pound smallie and a 15 pound pike. Those were on an LTX and it didn't even feel like I was challenging the rod. Again, these are quality rods plain and simple, nothing more needs to be said.

Congrats! Can you post a picture of her nice Smallie? We'd love to see it. Thanks again for the praise of your Kistler Rods. Trey

Sure, as soon as I can figure out how to get them from the ( - - blocked - - ), to our computer, then to here, I'll do it. I'm computer illiterate for the most part but she's pretty savvy so I'll have them up in a day or two.
