Lightninrod What is the difference between the Antares ARB and the Antaries Version 2. Both of these are for sale on Ebay. The regular one is $340 and the Version 2 is $290. The version 2 seems to have a faster gear ratio. I was wondering why it is $50 less.

ezbassin,
If I may, the Antares AR is the same as the Calais 100a US Market reel... it's smaller than the Antares V2 which is the same as the Calais 200 (I hear). I think that's the only reel difference. Oh, other than maybe the whiffle spool too. The Antares AR has the whiffle spool if that matters to you much.
I have this reel also and my only complaint is its weight.
My actual favorite pitching reel is the my Conquest 51

sd gave you good info. I have Calais 200's and the Antares AR(100 size Shimano). I prefer the Antares 100 size but I use the Calais when a larger-capacity reel is necessary---C-rigging for instance.

I heard that Shimano is coming out with a Chronarch 50 MG that is the size of the Curado 100 and it will weigh in at 5.7 oz.

EZBassin,
You heard correctly. However, that reel is available right now from the many Japan Market sites as the Scorpion 1000/1001 MG
