I have been using BPS rods for years and now I am thinking about going to Kistler rods. I usually buy rods that I can use with most any bait. I was wondering which graphite plus rod would be good for this. Also the only dealer close to me is G&S Bass Pro and all they carry is the upper end Kistler rods, but I would like to feel a graphite plus before I purchased one. Does any one have any suggestions of how I can put my hands on one before I spend the money.

I own several of the graphite plus and other kistlers, I would look at the texas rig medium heavy. It's 6'6 and wouild have plenty of back bone for numerous other applications.

That is about what I usually buy. A 6'6" MH rod, but I was not sure if the Kistler would be any diffrenet. I will look at one of these as soon as I found one close buy to look at. I appreciate the help. Also since you own many Kistler rods is there a big weight diffrence between the graphite plus and some of there other rods?

optaylor,
For the money the graphite plus is the best rod on the market, lightest most sensitive rod you can buy for under 150 bucks, but your budget will dictate how light you want to go. The magnesium is quite a bit lighter than the graphite plus for only about 50 bucks more. And well, they don't call the next step up "heliums/helium 2" for nothing. If you can afford it the helium 2 in the 6'9" MH in my opinion is the lightest most sensitive all purpose rod on the planet. Good fishing!!! Andy

I agree with andy if you can afford it step up to the mag rods, but in reference to the weight of the graphite plus you will not find a lighter rod on the market in that price range. I was using the 6'6 texas rig with a quantum energy on it. I handed it to my co angler and he could not believe how light it was it is the best rod for that price range.

I was asking the question about the weight since all I can find in town or the Helium and Helium 2 rods. I am pusing my budget with just buying a Gaphite Plus. I have been fishing BPS rods and the only way I would buy them is when they went on sale. I have had the bionics and the extreme and last year bought a Browning Citoris. I do like the BPS and Browning rods, but I seem to keep breaking the BPS rods, so I figure I will try somehting diffrent and with the warranty on the Kistler I figure I can not go wrong.

optaylor,
I had a long time ago a couple of bps rods too. I had the same breakage problem. I currently have about 20 Kistler rods and only had one brake and that was my own fault, not the rod. The graphite plus is a much lighter, more sensitive rod than you bps model, without a doubt. Good fishing!!! Andy

.....maybe not many of you kistlers aficionado have this rod but i think it fits all my needing except crankbaiting and it's the great 7'3" FROGandSLOP triggerrod.
+ great casting distances
+ great on flipping
+ casting jigs+texas rigs
+ senkos
+ frogs
+ spinnerbaiting/traps
as i said, except cranks which i throw whit the MAG composite (the greatest rod ever by the buck), this F&S 7'3" STICK is AMAZING!!!
peace out from italy
