3/31/07 8:34pm Batson vs. Fuji |

I've been reading some other boards and people are arguing about Batson vs. Fuji components. Some people are calling Batson low quality, cheap garbage. Others are saying it's more expensive. Some guys are calling Kistlers lower quality because of the Batson components and saying they won't buy Kistler because they don't use Fuji stuff... that all the major rod companies use Fuji. I also hear a lot of complaints about the Batson reel seats not holding some reels tightly. I would love a good, detailed explanation on why Kistler chose to go with Batson components instead of Fuji. Are they really better and if so, why? What is better abuot Batson? Or is it just a way to cut costs at the expense of quality?

Personally, I have never had any problems with any of the components on my Kistler Rods. I use shimano reels and I have no problem with loose reels. I own models in every series that is available.
Most of the guys who post general comments about a rod or a company usually have other motives.
I think that trying a Kistler is the only way that you can appreciate the quality and and the sensitivity of these rods.
I am sure that Trey picked the Batson components to make sure that his rods had what he felt were the best components available.

I have 4 Kistlers. So far, no problems. I love them. Just never heard of Batson before I got Kistlers so I was curious. I also have Shimano reels on them and no fit problems.

I love my Kistlers, But I have had a lot of problems with reels seating tightly. I never had problems when using Garcia reels, but when I switched to Daiwa I had some problems. I had to put electrical tape in the seat of the reel itself to hold tite, but that did fix the problem.
As far as fuji v Batson, personal preferance. Both good quality, both have advantages and dis advantages. As far as Batson being cheep, I don't think I'd go that far. I've never seen anything about them that would lead me to that conclusion. I beat the crap out of my rods and I've never had any of the components fail.
