Hello, I was wondering what peoples advice was for the best rod, regardless of price, for finesse largemouth bass fishing. I am looking for a spinning rod, this I know, and it will be used primarily for soft plastics, and to a lesser extent small crankbaits, mostly lipless. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am sure to buy a Kistler, just need help deciding which one would best fit my needs. I will be fishing in Michigan, in water less than 10 ft deep if that helps. Also planning on putting accompanying the rod with a Shimano Symetre 1500 size or Quantum Kinetic. Thanks in advance.

Pete

Unbroken,

I would recommend the HE70MS. This is a very versitile rod and could be used for all you mentioned. I have two and use them for tubes, drop shotting, jigworms, mojo rigs and Texas rigged worms.

I think any of the med hvy Kistler spinners in the 6'9" to 7' will work for you. Though many are designed for specific techniques, all are great. I really love the Mg's for reaction baits like jerk baits and tail spinners. I use the LTA's and Helium LTX 2's for jigs, senkos, worms and other soft baits.

What about the Helium 2 LTX spinning rods, has anyone used these rods for the type of fishing I spoke about above?

I use the He2MH69S for Senkos when fishing outside weed lines or in open clear water on 8lb flourocarbon or tossing small jigs. This rod is super sensitive and has great hook set power. The other spinner, the He2M69S is by far the best drop shot rod I have ever used - period. We all have our favorite rods, but for fishing 40 - 70 feet deep (We really do catch'em that deep in Cali) I have not found a better drop shot rod. When I let my co-anglers fish with it, they usually say what Joe Dirt says, "DAAAANNNGG!"

Tony, what Champion model do you own? Man, that 210 Elite that Skeet runs looks so sweet.

I will order my new Champion 210 Elite in May. Currently I have a 206 Elite with the 250 Mercury Verado. The redesigned 210 and the 200 are both excellent tournament boats, and if you put a Mercury 200 or 250 Pro XS on them - Hang on!. Check out the new Champion web page. Its the coolest boat web page out there.

I agree, the HE70MS is a good all around choice!
