I just bought a he7mhc rod from a online store, and after looking it over for a while I noticed that the tip feels more like a heavy action than a mh.I put it next to my loomis imx 844 heavy and it felt like the same power,is this normal.jeff

Jeff, I don't know what you plan on using this rod for, but its my favorite all purpose rod. I use it for spinnerbaits, senkos, Texas rigs etc. I love the tip. I get great casting distance with this rod and the feel is great.

brad,
its going to be used for jigs and plastics, it seems like a powerful rod,I was just supprised by the diameter of the blank, being the same as the mbr844 heavy action rod I have.jeff

Jeff-

I recently got a 69MH and thougth the same thing as you. I'd never seen a Kistler rod before and the diameter, especially at the tip was bigger then I'd expected. That said, i took the smallest spinnerbait I throw (I'd guess a 1/4oz bait) with a Fuego (which in my opinion is not the reel for ultralight baits) and could throw it about as far as I can if I had it mounted on one of my Medium rods. To me if a rod has castabilty, is light and has good feeling with light baits then I see nothing but benefit in having power to boot.

steve,
my bcr803 and imx 844 custom built ,feel lighter in weight than the 7mh lta,but after I mounted 2 different reels on it it seemed to balance out.jeff

Jeff-

The weight is an illusion. I've not gotten to weight my 69APC but know from many posts here and elsewhere that my postal scale will show it the lightest baitcast rod I own even though my BCR803 or MBR782 feel lighter just to hold at a 45degree angle. The difference is balance and where material in the rod is located. Once I start casting though, I can't tell a difference.

I don't know how to think about the soft tip comment and as I have nothing historical to compare it to. From throwing a spinnerbait on the 69LTA I know the tip jumps around like a medium action rod so I take that to be the soft tip people reference. Can't wait for this ugly weather to move on so I can catch my first fish on the LTA. Certainly is hard to catch a bass in a 33 degree pond Smile

could VERY WELL BE a 2005 model. In 2005 Kistler used a different blank in the LTA's, and it was noticeably heavier action/power in the whole lineup . Sounds like ya got one! In 2006, they went back to the 2004 blank manufacturer, "I think", only because they are the exact action/power as the 2004 blanks. Cool

ohiobass,
if I'AM not mistaken, the 2005 models only used 9 guides including the tip on the 7 footers ,this rod has 9+TIP also they didn't start using forecast guides until 2006,which this rod has so IAM hoping this is the newer model.

Hey Jeff. Jeff here again,(aka PumaJeff). I have two 04 He70MHC's, and one 06 He70MHC, and they all have 10 guides, including tip. The 05's might have went with 9, not sure. i did buy an 05 He70MHC, and He69APC, and both were noticeably heavier in action and power than my 04's. Cool
