11/26/06 9:42pm Chatterbait rod scores big in Florida..
Below is a recent success story while using a Kistler Magnesium rod.
I got one of the new Chatterbait rods just before I left for the BASS Elite Wildcard tournaments at the Harris Chain. My first impression was that it had a moderate/fast action and good backbone from the mid-section to the butt. I put on a reel with braid and tied on a Booyah Boogie Bait.
During practice, I caught several fish on the rod and was even more impressed. The action was moderate enough that it let the fish take the bait deeper with the braided line. During the 3 days of practice, I gained enough confidence to use it during the tournament.
The first two days, I caught one fish each morning on the Boogie Bait. I then fished a Bomber 2A and flipped a trickworm the remainder of the day. I ended day 2 tied for 12th place and won the tiebreaker. On day 3, I again started out with the Boogie Bait and caught 2 fish. I then finished my limit on the crankbait. After several hours, I went back to the Boogie Bait and culled every fish that I had. I never lost a fish on the new Chatterbait rod. I moved to 7th place and qualified to fish the BASS Elite Tour next year.
Thanks again to Kistler for making the rods that make it easier to do my job.
