Heavier Action Rods?

Postby SamCFBC » 2/9/12 12:54pm

sorry if i missed it somewhere, but are the new actions and rod lineups for this year out yet? i was new to kistler last year and have a few helium LTAs (which are amazing by the way) but was looking to go with something a little more high end this year.

specifically, i was looking to find something a little more powerful that can handle weights up to 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 oz. i do a lot of clear, deep water carolina rigging and have to get the bait down pretty deep at times so i use a 1 oz. sinker or more. my experience with kistler is that the power and tip are a little less powerful than other rods. don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing and i know there are very reasons behind this but i haven't really seen anything i think would be able to handle this under 7'6" which would be ideal. i guess maybe the Z Bone LE 5 H 7' 3" but again, not sure if the 1 1/2 oz rating holds true?

you bet, the new Helium models are in stock, well most of them, still a few weeks out on a few. YOu can click around to see what is available now and later. I would recommend the MICHE76XHC as it has plenty of backbone for those heavy weighted lures.

If you are ready to step up the the Z bone rods, then I can help you choose the right rod. Yes, the 5H blank is what you want indeed and I love the 7' 3" length myself. If you are looking for a little more power and hook up backbone, then go with the 7'6" length like many of the Pros fish with. Either one will certainly increase your catch ratio as you WILL FEEL MORE STRIKES and get them to the boat better with a Z bone.
