A couple Kistler "Newbie" questions... **UPDATE**

Postby KnuckleDragger2725 » 7/2/10 8:56pm

I recently received a couple 2009 Helium II as a gift. The first, and only one I've used so far, is an HE2MHC66. I love it, seems to be an excellent worm rod that would also serve well as a great "all a round rod".

The second is a 2009 HE2MC66, While I have a few ideas of my own, I am curious what techniques those of you that have one use it for? Where does it really excell for you?

****** So I’m back after a year, kind of a strange turn of events with these two rods. I snapped the top 3" inches off the HE2MHC66 shortly after my original post and was slightly soured after calling and being offered a Mag. It seemed a little wrong for a $350 rod to be replaced with a $180 rod.....So I put it in the corner of the garage and replaced it with an SC Legend, not a bad rod, but not as nice as the HE2. I eventually gave it to a buddy who had recently returned from Afghanistan and found his storage locker burglarized, he hot glued a tip on the now 6'3" HE2MHC66 and loves it so I guess it lives on.. The HE2MC66, now that’s a whole different story. WHAT A ROD!!! I have used it 3 days a week for the last year throwing everything from a Dropshot to Texas Rigged grubs and 4' worms to small cranks. As long as lure weights are considered to some degree.... there really isn’t much it cant do!! This rod has made it to the "keep for ever" status which is HUGE for me. Every time I get one of the Micro upgrade emails I think about it really hard, I'm just afraid to mess it up, especially with them now being discontinued.

The HE2MC66 is a good crankbait, small spinnerbaits, and great topwater rod. You got a couple nice rods there second only to the Z-Bone rods. Welcome to the forum. Let us know if you have any other questions.

I have this rod teamed up with a Team Daiwa Pixy 6lb Seaguar Flouro, its such a light and ultra sensitive rod, that combo weights in at a mere 9 1/2 oz. I use it for drop shotting, shakey heads, brass and glassing 4" Robo's and it is also a blast with small cranks and topwaters to boot. If I am fishing the topwaters I switch my line to Mono. Another great tecnique is throwing 3" grubs down bluff walls in the summer, just throw it up against the bluff, feed it line and swim it down, sweep and reel when they grab it. Its a great rod I hope you have a fun summer with it.

I do...an He2 with micros is going to feel as good as a Z bone ST. You will love it!

Well I'm definitely thinking hard about it....... what are the chances of getting a "Hook Lock" swapped on at same time?
