Spinning Reel Suggestions for 2009 He2MH70S

Postby Leon O » 4/15/10 5:57pm

I want to make sure I don't overlook any potential reels to match to my new 2009 He2MH70S. I will be probably use my Daiwa Tierra 2500, but have been considering the Shimano 2500 FI. Since Kistler owners tend to be quite original an innovative in their thinking, I'd like to make sure that I'm not overlooking any potential spinning reel candidates. Besides reliability etc, my priorities are line management & casting distance. Although not that important, it wouldn't hurt if it also complemented the appearance of the LTX :)

Thanks

Leon

I would choose any of the high end Shimano reels period. They are all good. I don't know one that matches the He2 rods but anything with chrome would look great.

I just used the smallest Wave reel, deliberately overfilled with 15 lb Spiderwire-- normally a recipe for birds' nest disaster, but I got nary a snaggle and I was able to cast a 1/32 jig with it and my MH LTA as far as I can with an 8'6" UL rig with a US reels Supercaster-- my previous distance rig. I have no good experience with Shimano products.

Daiwa!

This is one area where I definitely prefer Daiwa over Shimano. I have tried several of each brand, and the higher end Daiwa's just seem to work better. I especially like the longer spool design of the Daiwa's, as they seem to cast better with fewer tangles, using the same line as the Shimanos.

spinning reel?

Postby bassboogieman » 8/10/10 12:32am

I have mine paired with a Pflueger Supreme XT (8035). The reel is magnesium frame, light yet strong. Compliments the rod in both color (gold) and balance very well, and won't break the bank.
