Drop shot rod

Hi all, I am new to the Forum. I primarilly use a spinning rod drop shotting here in AZ. Currently use a cumara cus-72m. I have read very positive things about the LTA's and LTX's. i am concerned that they are only offered in Med/hvy for spinning. Would these be to stiff. Appreciate any thoughts

The Kistler LTX and LTA's are amazing rods. As far as drop shotting goes my choice is the LTA He69MHS, this is a fantastic rod for drop shotting, flick shake, split shot or practically any finesse technique. Being from SoCal I understand your plight. I have used this rod for the past month and a half and have found this to be my go to Drop Shot Rod. I currently have it set up with a Team Daiwa SOL 2500 with 8 lb flouro. This rod has a great tip, its super sensitive and has a very nice backbone. If you check out the specs on this rod you will notice it is rated for 1/8-1/2oz line and 8-14lb line, the LTX MH spinning rod has a lot stiffer tip and a whole lot more backbone and the numbers reflect this.

If you need a lighter action rod and if you could afford to do so, I would check out a Z-Bone. I have had the Z-Bones for the past three months and they are unreal rods. I cannot wait to build my Dream Z-Bone LE Drop Shot Spinning Rod. I currently have a Production Model Z-Bone ST Spinning Rod MH and it is so well balanced and so sensitive and the Micro Guides on a spinning rod are something to behold. I own a LTX He2MH69S paired with a pflueger supreme reel rigged with 10 pound test. I would have to say that I have never felt the subtle so good as when I went to this rod. Well worth the money, hands down! Excellant hook sets too.

I use both ,the He2MH69S and the He2M70S. Both of these rods are unbelievable when it comes to drop shotting. I live in Ohio and fish Lake Erie a lot when it is not frozen.
I use these rods pretty much the same and then totally different.
Let me explain. I use the 6'9" LTX with eight pound fluorocarbon line when the fish are from 8' to 20'. I use the 7 footer medium for deeper fish,but I use fireline as my main line and then after the swivel I use 6# fluoro. leader. This is for fishing deep water in the summer and fall when the fish are not crushing the bait,just "mushing" it.
However,if the fish are very aggressive deep I will use the shorter rod with a bit more backbone to play them a little harder I will also go up to 10# fluoro at this time.
If they are aggressive in the shallower depths, I use the 7' Med. and 6# fluoro.
This lets me fight the fish with a little more whip to the rod and the extra length is handy for keeping them down instead of jumping. They are going to jump,just the longer rod shoved in the water helps deter them...SOMETIMES So, making a short answer long. You can not go wrong with these rods. They really are what all the users are claiming them to be.
This is one case where I would say to believe all the hype.

Ok so Ive had my Vic for a while now and never encountered this issue before last practice. My Vic has really bad first shot drop. Like it wont come out of the barrel first shot sometimes. Any suggestions.

I just recieved my custom Z-bone 7' Medium action LE drop-shot rod and this thing is incredible. Light, fast tip, super sensitive, well balanced, and a great backbone. If you are looking for the ultimate drop-shot rod I would build a one of a kind Z Bone, like I did. It is worth the money.
