Wisebass,
I use both ,the He2MH69S and the He2M70S. Both of these rods are unbelievable when it comes to drop shotting. I live in Ohio and fish Lake Erie a lot when it is not frozen.
I use these rods pretty much the same and then totally different.
Let me explain. I use the 6'9" LTX with eight pound fluorocarbon line when the fish are from 8' to 20'. I use the 7 footer medium for deeper fish, but I use fireline as my main line and then after the swivel I use 6# fluoro. leader. This is for fishing deep water in the summer and fall when the fish are not crushing the bait, just "mushing" it.
However,if the fish are very aggressive deep I will use the shorter rod with a bit more backbone to play them a little harder I will also go up to 10# fluoro at this time.
If they are aggressive in the shallower depths, I use the 7' Med. and 6# fluoro.
This lets me fight the fish with a little more whip to the rod and the extra length is handy for keeping them down instead of jumping. They are going to jump, just the longer rod shoved in the water helps deter them...SOMETIMES

So, making a short answer long. You can not go wrong with these rods. They really are what all the users are claiming them to be.
This is one case where I would say to believe all the hype.
