spinning reel suggestions

Postby Duce » 9/7/06 4:32pm

I just got my first spinning rod LTA. Was wondering what others have found as a nice pairing for a reel. This is a 6'6 medium. I like to fish with 6-8 lb. test depending on circumstances.

I would go with the symetre or a shimano biomaster 2500. I actually have one for sale if your interested. Depends on what size reel your looking for.,

Have you considered the Stradic from Shimano? I use a 2500 on a medium action spinning rod and a Stella on a dock skipper. I really love both of them. The Stradic is extremely affordable and has been very dependable.

Thanks for the replies, I'm headed down to the Bass pro in B'more next week and I'll look at what they have to offer. Skeeter boy, went to your web site and could only find bait casters. I assume the biomaster is a japanese shimano?

Either a Shimano Symetre or a Stradic. The Symetre is very similar to the stradic but a little bit clunkier. The Stradic is definately worth a few extra bucks and is not the expensive to begin with.

Symetre or Kintec

Postby Unbroken73 » 4/6/07 12:22pm

I would recommend the Shimano Symetre as well, for 89.00 you can hardly go wrong with the name and overall performance. Another, for 79.99 is the Quantum Kinetic PTi. The Quantum comes with a great ceramic drag system, which is great, and has magnetic bail springs. To a lesser extent, it also has a titanium bail, which cannot be bent out of place, it is extremely flexible. However, working in a retail outlet, the best customer and employee reviews go for Shimano, however, sales generally go to the Kinetic, in that price range.

Hope this helps.

SHIMANO! :?

YES SHIMANO FOR BAITCASTING, BUT GET YOURSELF A DAIWA FOR SPINNING. WAAAAAAAAAAAY LESS PROBLEM WITH SPINNING COMPARED TO SHIMANO. GET A DAIWA TIERRA. 8)

Best reel for the money by far

Postby DAVESTR200 » 4/23/07 9:40pm

The biomaster is a $140.00 reel new from Japan. They also make an Ultegra that you can buy on Ebay for about $85.00 dollars and it is a Japan only reel. I have one of each and the ultegra is a fine reel that I put on a magnesium 6'9" med/lite spinning rod and it is spooled with 6# Vicious fluorocarbon. The reel is a model 2500 and has caught some 2 to 4 pound spots on Lanier in Georgia. :D
