Gotta have one rod or the other. Help!

Postby olddan » 7/29/06 4:37pm

I posted this yesterday but for some reason it didn't seem to take so here's a repeat. Sorry if it turns out to be a double post.

Last year I bought a used Kistler KCBCM7 composite cranking rod along with a Pflueger President reel and, I gotta tell you, it's fantastic. Perfect for my style of bassin'. I want to complement this rig with another Kistler and President but I'm unsure of which rod to buy. I'm an old guy (see my username) and I don't want more than 3 rods lying on the deck anymore so I need 3 relative all-purpose rods. The two Kistlers I've been looking at are:

HE69APC - looks like just what it is, a solid all-purpose rod

BUT, this looks good too:

HE70MHC - maybe even better for an all around rod than the APC above?

I can only afford one right now so the question is for Kistler veterans, which would serve me best for Spinnerbaits, Texas-rigged worming, etc.

Your advice is appreciated.

Tough question!!! Both rods are great, but you only want one. For spinnerbaits the 69APC is better but or worms the 70MHC is better. But for an all purpose rod I would have to say the HE69APC is the way to go. I have a couple of each and the APC can be used in a wider variety. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the good advice, guys. I'll go with the He69APC for now and pickup the 7 footer later in the year.
