Heavy texas helium

Postby sbtaylor » 7/25/04 4:20pm

Which Helium would be the best for heavy texas rigs? I've found a deep (15') bite with big yammy grubs. I've been using the He76HC the last few trips and it works well but I'd like to have it rigged for other things. The lake I fish is weedy - thats where I need the sensitivity of the Helium ( I can feel the grub sliding and ticking off the coontail and milfoil, right where the bass are hanging out). How would the HE70HC or HE69HC work out?

Since you're sticking with a HC, why not another 76???

I would look hard at the 7'6 EHC. I just bought one and I feel It would be perfect for that application. I plan on flipping the grass on Rayburn with it.

SB,

I just got my HE76HC last week and used it this weekend for what you described, fishing in coontail, the extra leverage of the 7'6'' was a great asset, using a Helium lets you have the advantages of a 7'6'' rod without the extra weight, why not use that advantage, stick with the HE76HC!

Heavy Texas Helium

Well - I probably will continue to use the he76hc for big yammy grubs and big worms, but I may look into a 6'9" or 7' heavy helium to compliment it; I'm only 5'8" and sometimes the shorter rod seems a little handier
