Fishing Rods

My wife and I have been online recently looking at properties in Texas, so far the places near Toledo Bend look promising, is this a good area?
I have only been to Houston and Dallas and did not fish while I was there, we are looking for some small acreage (my wife has horses) and I want a place with major lakes close by to fish tournaments.
Any help would be appreciated.
