Just won bak2bak club events plus a 5th and let me tell you the Kistler medium action LTA held those key 4.45, 4.25 and 4.08 needed for the high ...

If you could customize your helium what would you do?

 When I got my first Helium, I didn't use the holder the correct way. I kept trying to get the hook's point thru the little opening..........DUH1 Finally figured it out  .

Hook Keeper

Postby AustinBass » 8/9/04 4:20pm

I was fortunate to see it's use demonstrated before I bought my first Kistler...or I probably would have done the same thing  . I've had several guests try to hook through the keeper, and a friend who basically ruined his hook keeper before I showed him how to use it.

I can see how a twisted hook could scratch the blank if inserted a certain way. The only rod I have problems on is a crankbait rod where the little excalibur hooks on the Bandit have scratched some of the epoxy, and actually exposed and pulled the first few threads. I think it was actually the barb grabbing when I pulled the bait off the keeper. I added a little more epoxy to cover it up.

Definatley a longer handle on the spinning rods. Here in Michigan we throw alot of tubes. The handles on the 7 footers are way too short. They need to be longer. That way we can use that long handle for leverage for those hard pullin smallies. That will also balance the rod a little more. The casting rods are great.

God bless,

On a spinning rod I'd like to see the hook keeper on the opposite side from the reel. That way it would be facing you when you need to use it, not down under.
