7' Mags

Postby pool4pro » 3/16/06 11:56pm

I'm looking to switch out 4 or 5 of my 7' Fenwicks with Kistlers. They are all identical 7'MH rods. I see there are a couple different 7' mags and I was wondering if anyone who uses any of them could describe their actions and just give me a general description of each. I only ask this because We have no dealers up here in MN so I am not able to actually look at any of them. I use them mostly for swim jigs and light plastics. I will however need different rods for each application because the actions of course will need to be different.

Hell pool4pro,

Welcome to the forum and great to hear that you are joining the Kistler family. There are several rods that I would recommend. For light plastics, go with the He69MHAPC. It has a great tip to help pitch/cast lighter baits but, the power for solid hooksets. It is also one of the most sensitive rods that I have ever used. A close second for soft plastics is the He7MHC which has a little less give at the tip, great sensitivity and still the same backbone. This might be a better choice if you feel more comfortable with 7' rods. It also is a good rod for swimming jigs. If you will be swimming jigs around alot of cover or heavy grass, then go with the He7HC or the He69HC. These rods are light ,sensitve and very powerful.Hope this helps.

Good fishing,

I actually use a He69MH quite a bit for jerkbaits and that sort of application. I originally bought it for a senko rod but I don't really like it much for the soft plastics, just doesn't feel right for me,one of my favorite rods never the less.
I was looking at the He7MH or 7H, But I was interested in the mags as well.
What kind of action does the Heavy action carolina rig model have as opposed to the senko rod?

pool,

The Mg MWCRH70 rod is a little stiffer than the MgSWMH70 rod throughout the blank. Both are very versatile powers and actions. Light as the LTA rods with a few extra features. Great value!

Good Luck choosing. I also have a hard time choosing which rods to take when I go to our lake X to field test. They all are just so good feeling. Pick the rod you will feel the most confident in.
