Where are Kistler Rod Blanks /Batson components made?

Postby Snidley » 2/14/06 3:33pm

To clear up a discussion going on at another website can someone answer this question. Where are the rodblanks for Kistler rods made. I know the new MG rods are made totally in China but there seems to be some mystery as to where the rod blanks for other, more expensive, Kistler rods are made. Some people are saying these rod blanks are imported from China or the orient somewhere and assembled and painted in Texas while others claim Kistlers are totally made in the USA. Further some people say that Batson components are made in the orient as well while Batson appears to be a USA based company. Can someone , even administration, clear this up for me as it is a subject that is only getting cryptic responses on the other site. Thanks. Snidley

Snidley,

Thank you for your questions. I understand your request to find out the proprietary secrets of our products. Obviously, we are not about to give out this information.

If you want to know about Batson products, then contact then to find out the details. The truth be know, about 100% of rod components are made outside the USA. Sad, but true isn't it?

We are selling a Kistler finished product with our standard of quality and craftsmanship. Stamping our approval on a finished rod, component or even bare blank that comes from anywhere in the world should be enough. If you believe in Kistler's quality, then you can believe in all of our products.

If I said our rods were not made in China, then how soon would we get a question such as "Are your rods made in Taiwan" or "Are your rods or blanks made in Australia" So on and so forth. Get the point. We want to have some form of mystery to our product development so our competitors don't catch wind of our supplier.

If we say we make a rod in the USA, then you can bank on it my friend.

I hope this will help.

Thanks for your recent rod order. Let us know what you think.

Thank you for your reply. I knew the answer is quite simple and I for one am not upset that your and most other rod manufacturers are using foreign sourced components. Also I am not trying to find out who your supplier is because i'm not in the fishing business nor have i ordered any rods from Kistler, but i certainly would happily test drive some should you decide to send product my way. I'm sincere in thanking you for your candid response. snidley

Snidley: Very nice and polite inquiry on your part. I'm sure you realize that there are several(many?) rod companies that would love to know Kistler's proprietory rod blank secrets especially the vaunted Heliums :) . Competition is fierce in all aspects of fishing and the Heliums for whatever reason :? draw's more chatter(and misinformation) than any other rod I'm familiar with. I truly wish you had a chance to hold one and better yet, to fish with one as then Kistler would have another upstanding and knowledgeable 'convert' 8) .

Trey, y'all need to get a dealer or three up in that frozen land  !
