Trap rod ??????

Postby hart1080 » 2/25/10 6:08pm

Going to replace another rod for a kistler an have been looking since last fall an just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I've had medium action rods an the ones i've used I haven't been happy with, they didn't have enough back bone to rip from the weeds. So i'm leaning towards a medium heavy, unless you can make me a believer in a medium. An i want one that can handle say 1/4 oz to at least a 3/4oz . I've been threw your web site an the ones you suggest, but i want to hear from you guys an see what you have to say. Maybe theres a multi purpose that you might even lean towards. Just looking for some info thanks guys :D Oh yeah i would like a 7 footer atleast bigger is ok but not much smaller

IMO the MGADPT78T with non-stretch line would be the best choice in the Magnesium line up. It is not a true stiff heavy power and works great with moving baits. The extra length will help rip the bait from the grass indeed. I am a big believer in LONGER rods performing much better in most applications...and so are many of our professional staff guys.

I agree, the MgADPT78T is a great trap rod for 1/2 oz and up. Its also probably my favorite rod and I have 4 of them. Another great rod is the He70mhc, especially for 1/4 oz baits. Maybe the best all around Kistler. However my absolute favorite rattle trap throwing rod is the He76mhc, but i dont think it is still in production. I do see a Z Bone that seems to be very similar.
