Titanium Guides?

Postby Timbell214 » 9/22/05 3:38pm

So far I'm really diging the magnesium rods... While I'm looking for a couple new rods now, I can wait till Christmas time. One quick question though..

Do you guys not make these with Titanium Guides?

They seem to be REALLY impressive, and if im gonna spend the money on a top quality rod... might as well get titanium guides IMHO.

Thanks,

Tim

Welcome to the Kistler family Tim. I'm sure Trey will reply but if he doesn't see this, you might want to email him.

True titanium (solid) guides are very hard to come by and too expensive. We can put them on any rod you wish but the cost will be considerable. My competitors rods claim to have titanium guides but mislead the consumer. These are most likely a coating over stainless which is not half as good as solid.

Our Magnesium rods will have solid stainless steel guides which if taken care of will last almost forever. Less expensive too.

I hope my honest opinion helped. Thanks, Trey Kistler

Trey won't I don't understand is why you don't use Alconite guides on your graphite or new Mag series of rods. Most consumers can associate with the name Fugi Alconite guides. I've had many rods made with Alconites and the cost is not expensive at all, then again the guides on the graphite series look like they belong on a $70 dollar rod so cost is prolly considerably cheaper.

Please don't be upset at my honest opinion.

Phippy,

We don't use Fuji guides because we have found a better maker. The Alconites are not what you think they are as far as upper end guide rings. I'm sorry if you feel like our Graphite Plus guides look cheap. I can prove to you that these guides do perform under extreme fishing conditions. Heck, I wouldn't put cheap guides on our rods. I can put some more expensive guides on this series but then the price would go up needlessly. I'm sure you can respect that. Thanks for the opinion.

Trey. I would like to apologize for my comments. I pretty much didn't it word it like I wanted to and should of previewed my posting a few times more.

I guess what I'm getting at is soon you'll be releasing your new series of rods, in particular the more affordable Mag series. I guess I have a hard time paying $50 more over your graphite series with basically same actions and components. I'm assuming the new improved Mag blank is driving the price up along with the split rear handle.

I guess I'm getting fustrated with the cost of fishing these days.
