Open face spinning or casting? Or closefaced spincast?

I'd stick with a medium powered short rod that will help her enjoy the time fishing while casting with less effort.

The CSF69MS is perfect for a beginner or someone who does not need or want the best. Plus a full length handle she'll appreciate.

I would agree with Trey. The Carbon Steel line in a medium power in 6'9" will be a great choice. I have 4 rods that my wife uses when she goes with me. The shorter rods work best for her.

I would recommend the Carbine Steel CSF69MHC a great fishing rod to get for your wife. She very pleased with with her first Kistler Rod.

A Carbon Steel rod is plenty good for her. The shorter and more flexible will make for a more enjoyable day of fishing.
