Im planning on buying the Alton Jones composite rod for throwing square bills around shallow under water cover(mostly trees) and was wondering if this rod would be good for throwing those heavier half once and up balsa lures. I know the rod says 1/8- 3/4 once but does it throw the smaller lures better or the big ones? Or am i looking at the wrong rod?

The rod will chunk the smallest of baits because of the soft, fast action, BUT, you may be underpowered when a BIG bass takes your bait around trees. I would recommend a graphite rod for squarebills around trees with heavier line.

Trey,
Will this rod work for medium to deep diving crankbaits or should I go with a different rod. I have a argon 7'2 and love it but it is becoming hard to find. what do you recommend?
