Fishing Rods

Hi everyone.. looking for the perfect rod to swim a jig with. What do yall think looking for something with a spinnerbait tip but with some backbone to get those fish out of the grass. I kind of know which one I like but wanted to hear what yall have to say first. I swim a 1/4 oz homemade jig with trailer and a 1/4 oz dirty jig with trailer on 65 lb power pro....sometimes i use a 3/8 oz but that is as heavy as i will go....Any ideas?????

what about micro guides on a rod for this, any differences or advantages???

I use the he70hc for swim jigs but I normally throw 3/8 or larger in heavy cover. You could probably get away with the he70mhc for mostly 1/4 ounce jigs, should have enough backbone to get the fish out of the grass.

Anyone else? What yall think about the micro guides for a rod like this?

I recently just purchased a He70MHC and I'm very happy with it. So far I've been pitching 1/4oz jigs into laydowns and stumps and have been able to muscle a few fish in the 4lb class with ease. Though I have to admit I should be using a He70HC for this application but wanted to see how much power this rod has. I've also tried throwing some toads as well like a Stanley Ribbit and feel the rod loads perfectly with great casting distance, no fish as of yet though. I think this rod will be my football jig rod up to 1/2oz along with toads. I can see this rod excel with swim jigs as well. My Chronarch D7 feels right at home on this stick.

I see most of the advice for a "perfect LTA swim jig rod" revolves around a 7' rod, except for the Gloomis GLX 853 or 852, which are 7'1" rods (personally, I think both of these gLoomis models have too light of a tip for swimming a jig).
My concept of swimming a jig is to make the longest cast possible to cover more water and significantly reduce the possibility of spooking fish. I recommend you consider trying an HE76MHC. You'll find this 7'6" LTA will handle your 1/4 oz. jigs exceptionally well, and you'll find many advantages using a longer rod!
