It's been a while since I posted anything but after fishing with the new Z-Bone rods I couldn't hold out any longer. I have been fishing with Kistler ...

Need a little help.

Hey all, I'm looking for a great rod for flipping and pitching thick cover. I also want this rod to be dual purpose frog rod. I was looking at the Argon Jig and Worm Heavy 7' 5". I'm just not sure which set up would be best, the 7'5 or the 7'1. I know the 7'1 will handle frogs better, I will also be using this rod with a lot of jigs / worms along the bottom so not sure how much more significantly the 4" will move the worm on the larger rod? So far everything is pointing to the 7'1" except that I think the extra 4" will help more in thicker cover and be better for flipping. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 7'1" might just have a little more power because of the one piece designed blank strength. Both will get the jobs done well, but it is up to you to decide what length of rod you want to sling all day because it will make a difference if you are not used to a long rod like the 7' 5".

Argon rods

Postby CRANKINSMALLIES » 8/12/09 12:06pm

I have the Argon 7'-1" Heavy and love the versatility of this rod. It will pitch a jig all day with almost no fatigue and chuck a frog a mile. The backbone and sensitivity of this rod is amazing. As far as the 7'-5" goes I have not used that model yet but when I think of anything over 7'-4" I think of extremely heavy cover. Where you need that extra few inches of leverage to jerk those hogs out of the grass. Either way you will love the lightness and sensitivity of any Kistler rod you purchase.

Hope this helps

Hellooooooo, Just order my 1st Argon and it's the same 7'1" Jig & worm rod you were considering. Wondering if you went with the 7'1" or 7'5"? One of my buddies has the 7'1" and I liked it so much I had to have one. With all the past stories/rumors about breakage, and Trey's response about retailers ignoring the warning, I thought it best to go straight to the source and order it directly through Kistler, even if it cost a little extra. I had it shipped over night because I know I wouldn't have slept for 3-4 days anticipating it's arrival
I've owned a Helium in previous years and I was extremely happy with it! I'm positve I'll feel the same way about the Argon! :D
