Mg for Super Spook

Postby DL » 7/15/09 5:31pm

I currently use a 7' Heavy Mg for throwing my spooks but it is apparent that the rod is too stiff. While I have been using this set-up for a while, I have not had any lost fish because of the action of the rod...at least unitl last saturday anyway. What are you super spook throwers using to get maximum action without pulling the hooks out of the fish's mouth?

I have heard from many anglers that love the MgSWMH70 for the Superspooks. Plenty of bend and backbone to cast the bait well and nice over work the fish.

I agree with Trey. The action in this rod will let the fish fight himself and you want have to worry about over fighting the fish and pulling the hooks. I also have used the MgCBSJBM610 rod for chunking spooks as well. I like the 7' rod better, but when that rod is in use with another lure, then the 610 will work. Good Fishing.

Mg rod for Spooks

Postby Larry » 7/16/09 1:44pm

My choice is the 6'8" jerkbait rod (MgTWJBM68) when tossing spooks and Lucky Craft Sammy's.

This rod has a soft tip for propelling the lure with accuracy plus plenty of backbone for setting the hook.

I prefer the shorter rod length to a 7 footer.

Mg for Super Spook

Postby DL » 7/16/09 2:26pm

Thanks guys. Next time out I'll give the MgSWMH70 a try. I am throwing the clear super spook that is heavier than the regular spook so a rod that has an action that is too light, ends up wearing me out by 10:00. I appreciate the input..
