I received my new Argon Spinnerbait rod, 6'11'' Heavy. I bought this rod mainly for medium (up to 2-ounce or 6-inch) swimbaits.
I couldn´t resist and went to try it in a nearby lake. So far I am impressed on how sensible this rod is. It doesn´t feel as a heavy-powered rod. The tip is soft and it works very well for deep crankbaits also (Norman dd or fat free shads). I paired it with a citica 200e (the Curado Cardiff 300e it was intended to go with is being cleaned and oiled) and it balances very well.
I tried it with swimbaits ranging from small 4-in (tru-tungsten and bbz shad), sebiles, swimming ninjas, jackall mikeys, daiwa doa, and huddleston 6-in trouts. The rod casts very well with all lures, feels a little overloaded with the huddleston but not that much.
I had a few captures with the sebiles (125 series) and even 1-pound bass hits were very noticeable! I was expecting a much stiffer rod but this one is very sensitive with the flex I need for swimbaits, but feels also very powerful in case that I need to pull a big bass out of cover fast.
Next month I am going to El Salto and I expect to really test it there with some big bass. I am planning to take my Mg Heavy Big Worm Special, the Argon Heavy spinnerbait, and my Helium 7'MH all with 50-lb braid (no room for finesse rods there!)
Let´s see how it behaves there, so far impressions are very good, not as light as the Helium but then I appreciate the weight for working the swimbaits and hopefully pulling the big ones! also the blue color is killer...
