Hello There,
Well as far as I can see this would make a really good choice, but you may also want to consider the Magnesium TS series. These rods are at an unbelievalbe price point and you could get into one of these for 170 dollars plus shipping, this would leave you with plenty of cash for that reel. I say this because your taking a huge step up from sporting good combo's to finely crafted rods, and these rods would be a great stepping up rod. I currently have and use about 12 of these rods and I love them. For a spinning rod shakey head I really recomend the MgDSFWML69S, this is the Kistler Mg series finesse drop shot, shaky head special, I love this rod, and it would serve you well, it's ultra sensitive and very light.
For another option would be the Kistler Argon Series, I have been fishing the AFF611S for a couple of months and this rod has started to become my go to drop shot rod/shakey head rod. I like this rod because it has all kinds of backbone, and its very light and sensitive as well. The one thing about this rod its a lot more stout than the other rods you were looking at, and I wouldnt recommend it for 6 lbs test line, 8 lbs works great on this rod. I just used it up on the Columbia River for the FLW National Gaurd Western Series, and it boated many fat smallies and got me a pay check.
As far as reels, I love my Team Daiwa's, a 2000 series reel would be perfect for the Mg series, a 2500 series would suit the other options very well. In the price range your looking at I recommend the the TD Pro series availble at Bass Pro, they are great reels with a great price. Well I hope that helps, if you have any more questions please feel free to drop another post. Tight Lines.
