MGTBWWMH610S Reel Suggestions

Postby Templer » 3/29/09 10:39am

Hi Folks,
I have the MGTBWWMH610S. I have been using the Shimano Sahara on it and although it works well, I would like to put on another reel. Any suggestions? What do you folks use? Most of my fishing is in small lakes in my area where the biggest bass is no larger that 3 or 4 pounds. Although I do hit some bigger water where the bass can be 25 - 30 feet deep, and may run up to 6 pounds or so. My boat was stolen, so I don't fish these bigger impoundments that often.
Thanks for your help and suggestions

If you're looking for light weight & good line capacity, the Plueger Supreme 8030. Holds 140 yds of 6 lbs, weighs 7.4 oz & the body is magnesium.

If you want to match the color up, the 2009 Shimano Symetre. I have the 2500 model & looks real nice. I posted a pic a few posts down, I have the same rod you have & the 6'10" Alton Jones baitcast rod w/ a Shimano Curado 201E.

Here's the link w/ the pic:

Those are some sweet looking reels. I have a few of the Smetry on other rods.
What do you guys think of the Sustain or Stradic both are 2500 for this rod. The weight of the reel balances out, but I'm thinking maybe a 4000 like the President. I have a few trions but no Presidents.

I just sold a Daiwa 3000, did not like the feel of the reel on this rod.
Problem I'm having is the rod is so dang lite!!! Which is a good thing.
This is driving me nuts  but in a good way! I hope to get things rolling by this weekend, so any other suggestions just send them on.
Thanks Again

Will try the 2500 Stradic when it stops raining and see what happens. I am still thig about the Presidents but only one store near me has them and I will not be able to get there for a week or so.
Thanks for the help and I will let you know what I go with.
