Questions of Helium 2LTX rods?

Postby marku » 3/25/09 11:12pm

Hi guys im new to the forum as you can tell. Ive wanted a Kistler rod for a couple years now and Im ready to bite the bullet. I want a really nice rod for my Diawa 2500 Certate reel. Its going to be a Helium 2 LTX but what model should I go for? Living in central Illinois I do a majority of Crappie fishing. However after they stop biting I do alot of White bass fishing. Every summer I also go to Florida a do some Snook and Redfishing for a week. Since I have caught a 37" snook maybe the 7" MH Helium 2 LTX is the ticket. Ive got several nice rods, Shimano V-Rod and a Legend Insore St Croix that my Diawa is currently on. I bought a 3000 Shimano Sustain last summer so im putting that on my St Croix and putting the Diawa on a Kistler. Later on I plan on buying a Steez for the Kister for the ultimate lightweight spinning rig. What should I expect out of the LTX? I have handled a couple LTA's and man they feel good! The quality is also way up their too. BTW does the new Helium 2 LTX have the RECOIL titanium eyes in the rod like my St Croix got? :D

Welcome to the forum.

The LTX line is the best feeling rod I have ever fished with by far. The 2009 LTX models do have the recoil guides as well.

I live in South Louisiana and do alot of saltwater fishing as well as bass fishing. When I am out red fishing I most always use a 7 foot medium heavy rod. As you know red fish put up a good fight and I like the extra backbone to help fight the fish. If you are buying the rod for mainly reds and snook I would suggest the He2MHC70. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Skeeter! That was the model I thought I should get. I fish around Siesta Key in Florida and I personally saw a guy catch a 42" snook off the beach! Spooled a Diawa 2500 with braid twice. The 37" I caught was in the backwater in Little Sarasota bay. He slammmed a Zara Spook around 7am something I will never forget. The Redfish I caught were around docks and averaged around 4-8lbs no real big ones but they pull like a freight train.

ok, have to vent a little. I ordered my rod last thurdsay. Still not sent out yet? Whats going on? I expect better customer service than that expecially when your buying a $380.00 rod. I can understand a couple days, it shouldnt take over a week and then a couple more days according to them. Then it takes another 4 days to get to my house. Im a patient person but come on this is a little crazy. :x

Kistler redemmed themselves. Got in contact with a gentleman yesterday and apoligized for the delay and said it would go out today. I called today and they are upgrading to a 2 day Air service so I can use the rod this weekend.

Thanks Kistler...........A whole bunch.

Cant wait to get it.

Happy Easter guys

Well took the Helium 2 LTX out yesterday and was BLOWN AWAY! Its far more sensative than my Legen Insore and Vrod from Shimano. Every litte bump along the bottom was like a BOOM. Cant wait to catch some Snook on this in June! Thanks again. :D
