Need help deciding

Postby bassmedic » 2/26/09 1:19pm

I'm wanting to buy my first kistler rod but can't decide on which model. I kinda going between the Mag TS and Helium LTA. Is the difference the components and price? Is the weight and sensitivity the same? And is the LTA worth the extra? I fish with shimano clarus, compre, crucial and a gloomis GL2. How does the Mag TS and LTA compare to these? If the Mag TS is a step up from all of these do i need to spend the extra on a LTA?

Sorry for all the questions. It's hard to make a decision when u need so many answers.

Thanks

Bassmedic -

First of all, with either rod, you will not have made a bad decision. I have fished both and own numerous MagTS rods. I love them. The weight is not that much different and the sensitivity of both rods is great. The MagTS rods have the split grip handle and the LTA's don't. I prefer the MagTS rods as the split grip handle fits my hand better. You'll love either, I just warn you that you're a stronger person than I if you don't end up buying more than one. Good luck!!

I agree with iowabassguy, I have both of these rods and you can not tell the difference in the sensitivity between these two rods, both are great. I to like the split-grip handles. The weight difference between the 2 rods is very little, probably want even notice, it's really according to the length and the power of the rod you get, but as said, you will love either rod you get. My favorite rod out of the dozens that I have is the MgTWJBM68, probably because I love throwing buzzbaits. But, as said before, either of these rods are great. I have never fished a gloomis GL2 rod so I can't compare them for you, but I have fished a gloomis rod and I can tell you the Kistler rod has far more superior sensitivty than the gloomis that I had, notice, I said had. To help you answer your question, go ahead and get both the MagTS and the LTA and try them both, you will not be disappointed. :D

I started out picking up the 6'10" MH Magnesium Chatterbait rod for my 1st Kistler, and it is AWESOME for everything from jigs and Red Eye Shads, to frogs and Texas Rigged worms...Very versatile!

Now I believe it is the Alton Jones Mg 6'10" MH, and will still be AWESOME with Alton's name on it as a bonus.
