I've been using a Daiwa TDZ on a Helium LTA 7' M for over a year now. This combo always amazes me and everyone who fishes with me. First of all, it's light. This combo is lighter than most reels by themselves. I can throw it all day without fatigue. I use this almost exclusively with Senkos. The tip is soft, and this helps the Senko last longer than any other rod I've thrown them with. This also helps the TDZ to skip rods deep under docks. This makes for a very versatile approach, when you can cast, pitch, flip, or skip with the same rod. My last trip to Rayburn the rod surprised me again. On a pitch to lily pads, a fish sucked in the Senko immediately and caught me off guard. The rod and reel landed in the water. I can't tell you how relieved I was that this combo floated high, and I was able to just troll to it and pick it up. Unfortunately, the fish had spit the bait and gone on his merry way.
My second favorite combo is a 6'M with a Shimano Scorpion 1000MG. Another super light combo, this is my fluke rod. I can make long casts, short underhand casts, and even pitch with this combo.
I have several other Heliums I use regularly, but most of the time you'll find one of these in my hand!
