Spooling Baitcasting Reels

Postby Detroit3Pistons » 1/9/05 2:45pm

Lately when I've tried putting line on my baitcasting reels it dosen't go on staright or is high on one side. How do you guys spool your baitcasting reels? I've thought about getting a little tool that keeps the tension tight when you put the line one, anyone tried these?
Thanks

What kind of reels are you using?

I have Shimano Curados (200 & 100) and a Chronarch and noticed this problem as well. What had happened was I had the side cover too loose and the cast control too tight and the spool was shifted over to the left side (RH retreive) of the reel.

I'd bet that if you just done some loosening and tightening on the Curado it'll get the spool centered in the reel.

I have one of those cheap Berkley spooling stations and they work out pretty good. The only problem I have is some of the line companies use spools that don't have the same size hole on both sides of the spool :x
