Since I helped make that rod, I think I need to bring it to you. We wouldn't want anything to happen to it. I haven't tested one yet on a snook. Research is mandatory.

Speckled Trout

Postby Capt.Ray Hamilton » 5/16/04 9:38pm

I didn't catch snook but sure caught several big speckled trout and reds with a Kistler 6'6" med action rod (KSPML66). It makes throwing top water baits all day a pleasure. It doesn't wear me out like some other rods do. I wouldn't use any other rods.

Hey onthespot,

Nice job man, those are some really nice catches! Looks like you're putting that new rod to good use. Excellent post....

What town are you in?

Looks like we fish the same waters mate. I'm heading to Tampabay this weekend to do some night fishing. Targeting snook, reds n' trout. Hopefully I can get some pics posted of that trip.

I plan to christen this new 6'3" dock skipping rod, using it to skip glow doa shrimp under the mangrove branches (and docks too, of course)! I'm sure it'll cast the lite weight baits just fine. But, it'' be interesting to see how it handles, while horsing out a brute. I'll keep ya posted.
