Just amazing for whatever I feel like throwing at them that day, or that hour. :D

Ditto to the Zillion! Except I have my on a HII LTX. It's a sweet combo for sure!

Different Reels Balance Better Than Others

Postby NoCompetition » 3/12/09 8:26pm

It depends on the rod and usage of that particular rod. I find different reels balance better than others on almost any rod. Kistler Rods are by far the lightest and most sensitive rods on the market, so I always keep that in mind when it comes to making a decision on a reel. I am a Team Daiwa guy when it comes to my reels, they make super light reels which in turn allows you to keep the sensitivity of Kistler Rods intact.
Also an important in the decision of a reel is what are you doing with that rod and reel combo? Flipping, Cranking, Worming and so on, the more sensitive the application the lighter reel I want. A cranking reel is more of a preferance of gear ratio rather than weight. For Flipping I look for hand fit and ease of engaging the free spool and how quick I can get it back in gear. Hope that helps any one looking for that new reel to fit that New Kistler Rod.
God Bless.

I only use spinning gear so I put a pflueger president on mine, now just need to be able to go fishing and catch something on it.

Reel

Postby deepcrankn » 3/24/09 11:06am

For the last 15 years I have used Shimano reels. I recently bought a couple of the Ardent XS1000 reels and they are awesome. They are as smooth as advertised and cast great. I am very impressed with these reels. If you want American made products you need to look at these reels. You will not be disappointed.

Pflueger for me. On spinning I like the Supreme (magnesium frame). The lightweight reel matches exceptionally well with the LTA's. The Patriarch is my choice for the majority of my LTA casting rods.

what type of reel works best

Postby CRANKINSMALLIES » 7/28/09 10:08am

I use the Revo STX and love them . They are light, cast extremely smooth, and last a lifetime. They fit very well on all of my Kistler rods. For spinning rods I use the Cardinal ALB and Soron series. You can't go wrong when you use Abu.

I really love the balance of the curado E 200e7 with my Kistlers, actually I have thress Shimano - Kistler Combos, Helium LTX II, Argon TS and Magnesium TS, all working with the new Curados ... great balance, great feeling and withou any sacrifice in weight ...

Pflueger Patriarch is by far my favorite along with the President in both 6:1 and 7:1 gear ratio. Very smooth reel and cast into the wind great with little to no birds nest.

Gotta love those low profile revo's, I think Scott Martin has it right! I'm a new Kistler client and love my new rods....I've had one of everything trying to find my niche and I'm so glad I've found Kistler. Kistler in Canada is a bit of work to find but well worth it.

Thanks Trey for a great product!
Sincerely,

I only use Pfleuger Presidents of Supremes on my Kistler spinning or baitcasting rods.

I'm using all Quantum reels for all my rods. Most of them are Quatum Tour Editons and a couple of Energy with Quantum Energy spinning reels on my spinning rods.

Love those REVO's, but to be honest, as long as it is on a KISTLER rod, I will chunk just about any reel. Got to have the Kistler rod to make any reel work right, now, am I right guys?
Have a great and Blessed Thanksgiving to all.
