Man, another beautiful day on the water. The fish bit fair not as good as practice but good enough to be right close to the money. Crankbaits were ...

Had a bad experience with Berkley Fireline XDS 65 lb. This line felt like wire and had way to much memory. It would coil like a slinky after I wrapped it around my finger. Not user friendly.
This is not to say all braid is like this.
Those of you who have had experience with braid, give me your suggestion on the braids you feel are most like working with mono.
Looking for the best compromise of the two but from actual people who have used it and not from PR people for line producers.

up until i found the gamma edge i used braid for several techniques. flipping, skipping, frogs, cranking cover, and topwaters. i used several different braids but the two i liked the best were stren superbraid and spiderwire stealth. i also used and disliked fireline. now the only time i use braid now i frogging and some topwaters. i found the gamma line to be more efficient for me. however, i could never throw a frog or toad on anything other than 50lb. stealth.

I use either 30lb or 60lb power pro braid. I have yet to have a problem with it. It has a decent lifespan on the reel as well, but when it goes (starts turning light green and getting really limp) it goes and you will need to change your line.

Good Fishing,

I used 65 lb for all my braid fishing and to me THE best no hassle line(S) are sufix performance braid and Izorline
izorline is my personal favorite but sufix is less expensive but it preety much works the same
spiderwire is garbage[/img][/i][/b]

power pro is the best by far and if you ask some of the guys who have to pay for it, the answer is the same -- power pro --

Best Braid ?

Postby scooter520 » 11/18/08 4:48pm

For all of my braid fishing i use Power Pro. For flippin/pitchin/frogs I use the 65lb. Carolina riggin, 30lb. For skippin docks, I use the 20lb on a spinning reel. We have also played around with lighter weights fishing VERY deep for smallies on Lake Michigan, tipping with 18" of Floro. Hope this helps !!
