Jig and Toad Rod for Senkos?

Postby mikesluckylures » 6/29/08 9:53am

Thinking of buying this rod to pitch Jigs and throw senkos.
Can anyone advise if this rod id suited for weightless worm fishing?

Thanks

A good rod for throwing senkos is the Magnesium (MgSWMH70). It has fast action with medium heavy power. A very light rod with great sensitivity, you can almost feel the fish before he bites your lure. Hope this helps out.

Like was said, go with the Senko Special for light jigs and Senkos.

I have that, and i have the Jig and Toad, and it's just a bit too heavy for weightless Senkos. It's not bad for other, heavier plastics though.

Mike-
If your fishing normal weighted senkos, I would highly recommend the Magnesium 6'9" "All Purpose" rod. It is the perfect rod for the action and feel you'll need for senko fishing.
The only way I would recommend the heavier rod like the jig & toad would be if your fishing the 6 to 8 in. senkos down at Amistad or Falcon.
Hope this helps out in your decision.

Jig and Toad Rod for Senkos?

Thanks for the advise

I usually pitch a 5/16 to 3/8 oz jig or tube.
Looks like Jig and toad would be overkill.

Appreciate the advise

i second that. the apc or the mg senko/worm rod are the way to go. i do however throw them on my all day flipping stick, with the light tip i can put a senko anywhere in the pads with braided line.
