Mag Rod

Hey there -

I think that you've made a great choice for the application(s). This rod is very sensitive and has great feel. For the money, you can't find a better rod. I also have the Graphite Plus finesse tube rod, which does have a little more backbone (it's medium action). Either way, you won't be disappointed.

I would definately steer you towards the Mag TS spinning rod. The med light tip is great for flick-shakes, shakey heads, and drop shotting. It has awesome feel. Good Luck!!!

Looking into that Magnesium Spinning rod myself.

Postby Blister72 » 5/20/08 12:53pm

I have been eyeballing that Magnesium Spinning rod myself, as I have a couple of casting ones (love them!) and just don't have the perfect spinning gear combo.

Oh, but then I'd have to find the ideal spinning reel to pair it up with. It is a never ending thing with tackle, isn't it?

I see the Graphite Plus 6'6" spinning rod is one of the "May Specials"...Hmmmm? Off to shop around some more.

If your looking at the graphite plus series the finesse worm tube special is awesome that rod has plenty of backbone yet enough tip to really work the bait the right way, that rod has given me alot of top 5 finishes and it's a great rod to have in your rod locker.

That 6'6" Medium Graphite Plus just keeps calling me back to it, and the deadline to get the special price of $99.99 seems to have a tractor pull effect on my wallet.

The funny thing is, I would pair this up with an old Rhino RSP3 spinning reel that is light, bullet proof, has great drag and casting abilities, and cost soooooo much less than this Kistler rod.

The Rhino rod it is on now weighs about like steel rebar and is a two-parter. It is perfect for weightless senkos, and has reeled in my best 6.59 LM, but I want to go lighter in rod weight, plus it matches the color perfectly (look good, fish good).

Ergghhh...decisions, decisions... :?

Got mine too...Thanks Kistler!

Postby Blister72 » 6/2/08 8:08am

I got mine shortly after ordering it. What a difference in weight, compared to that old Rhino 2-piece Kevlar rod. The 6'6" seems to be my favorite length for all around spot on casting.

Paired up with this little Rhino reel, and spooled up with Fireline braid, it casts weightless Senkos almost 100 feet with a little whip of the wrist.

As always, now I just need to catch some fish on it, to see how it handles them, and justify yet another rod added to the collection.

I had heard that some line may get caught on the hook hanger, but it is mounted up on the side of the rod, so no worries...yet.

Thanks again Kistler!
