Red Cross Charity Tournament

Trey and the Kistler Staff -

Thank you very much for the great rods you guys are putting out. BassCop and I fished the Reelin' for a Reason tournament to benefit the Red Cross of our area. We flipped plastics all day on rocks and submerged wood. We used Magnesium TS 7' Senko Special and the All Day Flippin' Sticks to bag a second place finish with 15.6 pounds. Despite the mighty Mississippi River being above flood stage, we still managed to catch 15-20 keepers (the limit we weighed in ( - - blocked - - ) in the first 28 minutes thanks to the sensitivity of the Kistler Rods. I am going to try and attach a picture (for my first time) so hopefully it works.

Thanks again for everything.

What a sweet haul of bass! Pretty slick jerseys too! I really need to order one of those Kistler ones...

Mind if I ask what type of line you guys prefer? I tend to LOVE P-Line Halo in 12-15lb., but with froggin' fun coming up, I have 50lb. PowerPro on my Magnesium Chatterbait rod, but wonder if I should switch back to the Halo for flippin' and Pitchin' jigs and Sweet Beavers.

Too many choices these days!

Again, nice job!

Line Choice

Postby iowabassguy » 5/15/08 1:49pm

Blister -

I fish a number of tournament trails in the Midwest (local club tourneys and the BFL Great Lakes Division) so I get to see various water / structure types. I (and basscop) use Triple Fish, Inc. line. It is awesome and I highly recommend it. In the Mississippi River, we fish a lot of rock and wood structure. I recommend using the 20lb flourocarbon for texas rigging and using jigs. If I am flipping heavy wood, I will use braid. We also flip jigs/plastics and throw frogs into heavy grass and pads throughout the summer and fall so I use the Bully Braid (Triple Fish). Right now, they are in the process of getting Bully Braid back so I have been using 65 lb Power Pro for my Kistler Frog Rod. For lighter applications, I throw Triple Fish X Line. It is definately worth a try and I highly recommend it.

Good Luck

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the info.

I will certainly check out Triple Fish, and it doesn't sound like I am too far off on my strategy for froggin' and jiggin' in the rough with braid.

It sounds like I need to go a bit heavier for the Texas Rigged plastics and jigs.

I've been out of the sport for about 7 years, oh wait, I married the Mrs. 8 years ago...so 8 years, and I'm just getting back into it and LOVE it!
