MAGNESIUM TS and HELIUM LTX question-Any medium and fast?

Postby CapeCodBass18 » 3/7/08 9:06pm

I have been looking at all the Magnesium TS and HeliumII LTX rods and *correct me if im wrong* but all the medium action rods are rated moderate fast and I cant find any that are rated fast. Is this just because they are lighter action that it causes the blank to be more flexible or r they truly mod. fast rods? Does anyone own the Helium II 6'9" medium spinning rod or the Mag TS medium-light 7' casting rods? R these super soft tipped rods or not? Anyone that can help is greatly appreciated because I want to make a purchase soon.

You are exactly correct about these being true moderate fast actions because they are softer than the other medium rods in the Helium LTA and Graphite plus.

So would the 7' Medium light MagTS casting rod be a good choice for light t-rigs, small jigs in deep, clear water, and light pitching around lighter cover? I prefer a fast action for these techniques but it says that it is a mod-fast which is more something I'd use for crankbaits, topwater, etc. What is this rod best suited for?

No the MgMLC70 will not be good for those techniques. Only moving baits with treble hooks, light drop shot rigs both in open water. This rod does not have the hooksetting qualities needed for soft plastics with buried hooks, accept for a yamamoto plastic while drop shotting.
