Well the fishin trip started this afternoon at about 4 at the golf course. We worked our way around through the little ponds and lakes with pretty much zero luck. At the last pond we fish I threw out a black and blue jig, with a Zoom sapphire trailer. A small bump and I set the hook ... I wound a couple turns and he ( - - blocked - - ) up shakin' his head; Ez tossed his rod and went for the scales ... but the lunker threw my jig. I know everyone claims how "big" the fish that got away was ... but we both figured that he was probably a 6 pounder from the size of his head when he broke the surface.
At this point I was really mad (as will be shown in the attached photo), anyway ... I tied on a Rat-L Trap (Lake Fork Special). I made about four or five casts with it and on the fifth it felt like I hooked a bowling ball. I slammed the rod back and started crankin' on him. Ez is yelling at me to move down the bank as I'm standing where I'd have no chance of getting him outta the water. After fighting this guy for what felt like five minutes he finally ( - - blocked - - ) in close to the bank and we pulled him out. The rapala digital scale read 5 lbs 1 oz. It felt really good to get him ... but I still wish I'd pulled the first one in as well.
