Golf Course fishin part two

Postby Ezcue » 10/12/04 9:49pm

Tried the golf course again this afternoon. Bob and I caught about 6 fish from 1-to 2 pounds and one at 6lbs6ozs. It was right before dark and the wind had picked up, on a whim, I decided to throw to the middle of the pond. I was chattin with Bob and half paying attention, as the lure got about halfway back in..SPLOSION!!! It sounded like somebody dropped a bowling ball in the water. The fish crushed it and made a hard right to deeper water. I am reelin like crazy and not slowing her down. I tightened down on the drag (fishing braid 50lb.) and turned her back toward the bank. Bob asked, "good fish"? Before I could say a word, with my rod jammed in my stomach and just hanging on, the fish made a run to the surface and turned a somersault. Bob, said, "$%#^#, ( - - blocked - - ) fish!" He had continued to fish up to that point, he reeled in and got out the scale and ( - - blocked - - ). We quickly weighed her snapped a digital and released her to fight another day. When she made the run for deep water the HE66MH really stood up and went to work, the backbone in that rod is awesome. It is one heckuva spinnerbait rod.

The rig: Kistler Helium HE66MH, Shimano Chronarch SF, TUF-LINE XP 50 lb. braid, 1/4oz. Boogerman Buzzbait (black) with a Yammy trailer clear/silver and gold flake, all slathered up with crawfish Carolina Lunker Sauce.

Thanks for lookin. I have been very lucky/fortunate this year and I sure am grateful. B) Hope all you guys stick a bigger one.

That is an awesome fish. Do you like the Carolina Lunker Sauce? I looked at it the other day but I haven't decided if I was going to order any or not.

Thanks SD.

On scents: I am kinda up in the air on the assorted juices and berries we slather on lures. I am really not sure that they imitate or attract anything. That being said, I put a lot of faith in their role as a cover scent. I cannot argue success, since starting to use the lunker juice, I feel that I have caught more fish. It seems to help with the fish holding onto the lure longer more than anything else. Gives me a little more time to react. So, I will continue to dunk all my lures in some form of goop until I loose confidence in it. My favorite flavors are Crawfish and Threadfin shad.

I have my own custom scent that I have but I might have to buy some of that lunker sauce. :D

I saw that great Bass on another board EZ but I'm glad you showed your Helium over here too.

I firmly believe that a lot of the fish I catch are because these babies are so sensitive.

I use to be a professional golf caddy. Golf course bass are stupid and love to be caught. They will spoil you. I wish I had used Heliums Rods when I was a caddy.

Thanks Clifford..I think. I have never given a fish I caught an IQ test and am not cencerned with their mental capacity. Also, the only species that I know of which enjoys having sharpened steel shoved through its lip is man. Seriously, I here ya on getting spoiled. It is a different ballgame when I hit public waters. Big fish on public water are very finnicky eaters, lol. Professional caddy huh. I bet ya swing a golf club as good as you cast a rod and reel. Come on, you can tell us (handicap?)....My golf clubs are gathering dust in the closet.

The truth is Trey is a better golfer than I am. I like playing golf but like fishing a lot more. I spent all of my extra time at the golf course fishing. It was just two good to pass up. I am sure Trey will trade you Titleist Pro V golf balls for credit off a Kistler rod.
