cranking rod

Postby Compa » 1/3/08 11:37am

I really never crank. If I do, it is usually a lipless crank. This year I am going to be a better cranker..

So, what is the best Kistler Rod for cranking?

Thanks

The MgCBCGGM70 is my choice in a crankin rod as well.

I have an few old fiberglass crankin rods ( non Kistler) that I thought I would never replace because I thought they were the best blend of hooking power and smoothness. I now realize after using the MgCBCGGM70 that I was using antiques. The Kistler has a much improved hooking ratio with a cushiony flex that acts like the perfect shock absorber It is also much lighter. As a guide, watching crazy smallmouths come undone on customers is quite a natural occurance. Since switching to this Kistler, the hook and stay ratio has flipped. Now its weird when one come off. Great rod. Capt. GJ Longley

I agree that the 7 foot Mag series crankin rod is great, I have three. I toss both small cranks and lipless rattle baits with it. If you like to toss big deep drivers like DD22's, also get a LTA He76MC. Both rods are a must for a serious cranker.
