I plan to buy a frog rod real soon. Anyone using the Mag TS Jig' Toad Special or another Frog rod from the Kistler line-up? Opinions on set-ups? Thanks.

Tony,
The LTA HE70XHC hands down!!! This is the rod I have used for Frogs in slop and open water on the Delta. I've had bass up to nine on it and the length and action works well for both applications of slop and open water  My personal 2c. By the way.. Any tips on Castaic in the fall ???

The 7'3" Frog and Slop rod is by far the best all around frog rod when it comes down to having enough power to pull the bass out of the thick stuff, the right lengh for great casting distance, and just enough tip for pinpoint accuracy and skipping up under shoreline cover. Although, I really do like the added lengh and power of the He711XHC if I will be throwing in lilly pads and slop all day. The handle is short enough that it allows you to work the bait perfectly.

Frog Rod

Postby Tony Lain » 8/14/07 5:54pm

Thanks a bunch guys for all the replies. I just ordered two new Kistler rods. The KFGS73 Frog and Slop Special for frogin', and for punching the thick mats the LTA He76TXHC. Both of these rods seem to be best built for want I need to wack the big ones the rest of the summer. Thanks!

hi guys,
i do represent KISTLER in europe and i fished with many of them, i know almost all of them well and there are a lot of great rods in the line to handle those frogs expecially the FROG&SLOP GPLUS or the JIG&TOAD MAG, but creation fish found out probably one of the top 3 rods in the whole KISTLER offer: the LTA 7OXHC!!!

this rod have SUPERIOR BALANCE, FLOATS IN AIR, SUPER SESITIVE TIP AND PLENTY OF BACKBONE.....if you think to buy a nice XH one, go for that one.

Frogs

Used my new Frog and Slop rod last week during pre-fish at Havasu. You guys were right, its perfect for it! Tip is just right for long cast, even with the 65lb braid, and heavy enough that I had no trouble pullin' the fish in through the junk. Again, Kistler got this one right! Great rod for the frog.
