What is the difference between the APS69 and the CBJ610, besides the length. Do they have different actions and/or power?

The APS69 is a little softer in the tip and so it performs better with lighter baits plus handles fish better with a treble hook lure.

Just ordered my first Kistler rod, the Mg Chatterbait one...

Postby Blister72 » 1/4/08 1:18pm

Happy New Year all,

I just ordered this 6'10" Chatterbait Magnesium rod on 12-31-07, so I'm hoping it is waiting for me when I get home today.

I plan on throwing Chatterbaits(frogs), 1/2 oz Booyah swimming jigs, 3/8 oz Evolution jigs, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits on it.

I must admit I was leery to throw down $179 for a Kistler rod made in China, although I have no issues with that. I just hope the stainless steel guides and issue with loose reels in the seat is not a problem.

The thing is I LOVE my Daiwa Light & Tough 6'6" Heavy, with the Viento, for just about anything from worms to Skinny Dippers to jigs and anything else it can handle. It too is very light and sensitive.

I read the review on Tackletour numerous times, and stared at the details of the magnesium series closely before ordering. I just hope it provides as much joy as my L&T does for the money.

I can't see myself taking it out in the dead of winter, so I won't know much until spring tourneys start up again. Is the return warranty pro rated at all for winter months???

A little reassurance would be greatly appreciated.

OMG!!! I just got my Chatterbait Magnesium...GORGEOUS!

Postby Blister72 » 1/7/08 2:32pm

:o I took off early from work today, because my wife called and said my rod had arrived. I raced home in some blustery, unusually warm January winds, not really expecting to be that blown away by the rod, after seeing what I assume are old images on tackletour.com.

I even got to see one in Big River Tackle & Timber this weekend, and it must have been the old model, like that reviewed on tackletour. It was a FAT blank, graphite gray, and had the silver stainless steel guides...nothing to write home about or post images of.

But this Chatterbait Magnesium TS rod is just STUNNING!!! It is more of a graphite sage green, with black guides, and the dark inserts. It too has the split grip, cork handle and is just GORGEOUS!!!

I was reluctant to keep it, if it was like the old one, but this one is a keeper indeed! I can't wait to put on my new Daiwa TD Zillion 7.1, spool up some green P-line CXX, and get out to the lake, before it turns to winter again.

I just wanted to let the Kistler crew know you have made a non-believer into a new found Kistler fan. Now I just need to order some apparel to spread the word and show off this beauty in the upcoming '08 tourneys.

Sincerely, Jason D. (Last name withheld due to spam filters.)

P.S. It has Fuji guides and reel seat...

Postby Blister72 » 1/7/08 2:42pm

I forgot to mention, that "Yes" the new Chatterbait Magnesium TS rod has Fuji guides and a Fuji TCS reel seat, so all is well on that issue.

Did I mention, STUNNING!?

Great packaging, light weight, and just WOW!
