Which reel?-- balance issue

Postby GT » 6/6/07 5:50pm

Maybe someone can help me out with balance problem, Which reels are you guys fishing on 7' ltx mh? I just put a chronarch on one and it is very tip heavy to me. I have tried a td zillion and it is somewhat better but still feels akward to me, any suggestions? The chronarch was very uncomfortable, just wondering what you guys have on this rod? What else can I do to balance it out? Thanks GT

Because these LTX rods are so light in the butt section, it will be difficule to achieve a complete balance. You can remove the butt cap and add a little weight inside the blank if you really need total balance or purchase an aftermarket weight balancing butt cap. We can do the modification for you if you are not comfortable with altering the rod. When did you purchase your LTX 7' your speaking of?

shave down the foam butt end, and buy a bps balance kit. You have to shave down the foam butt end to be able to slide the butt cap in the kit over the butt of the rod. Then cut the rubber butt cap from that kit to around 1-1/2" to 2" long, and ya only need to place one of the 1 oz weights in it, and you're set. I use 3 LTA He70MHC's and all 3 are set up this way. They feel like they're floating in my hands when holding them! 8)
I always balance my rods that I use when fishing vertical lures such as worms/jigs/tubes or any type of plastic. When fishing horizontal moving batis such as spinnerbaits or cranks, I find it not necessary. JMO, Jeff 8)
