shave down the foam butt end, and buy a bps balance kit. You have to shave down the foam butt end to be able to slide the butt cap in the kit over the butt of the rod. Then cut the rubber butt cap from that kit to around 1-1/2" to 2" long, and ya only need to place one of the 1 oz weights in it, and you're set. I use 3 LTA He70MHC's and all 3 are set up this way. They feel like they're floating in my hands when holding them!
I always balance my rods that I use when fishing vertical lures such as worms/jigs/tubes or any type of plastic. When fishing horizontal moving batis such as spinnerbaits or cranks, I find it not necessary. JMO, Jeff
