Just Purchased 6 new Kistler Rods...UPDATE, I now own 14

Postby NRHMike » 5/11/07 10:46pm

I have been fishing for more than 35 years and until I tried the new Kistler Magnesium Rods I had refused to spend the money for good quality rods. I no longer tournament fish but I do enjoy using good equipment. A fine young man at Cabelas in Ft. Worth, TX recommended that I try one. I did and the next day went back and bought 5 more to match up with my Abu Garcia REVO SX and STX reels. I had a really big fish on last week on my 7' Jig rod and I too felt a lot of movement with my reel on the reel seat. I have read the posts on here and it seems this problem will work itself out or I can help assist it with electrical tape. I failed to land the 13-14 lb fish I had on but I am posting a picture of the 10.2lber I did land. I love my new Kistlers. I did not realize how fatigued I was with my ALLStars, Fenwicks, Rodsmith's and Shimano's until I fished all day for 4 days with my new Kistler's last week while on vacation.

Thanks Kistler!

Mike,

Thank you for your testimony on the rods. We love to hear the good and the bad mixed in together, but most of all, we love to hear you love our rods enough to purchase 5 more.

Thanks for sharing your Hog bass picture. Keep em' coming. Wish we could have seen the 13 lb. bass.

Take care,

I use a rubber strap wrench to tighten my rods down snug. Won't scratch or damage anything, and never had a problem with any of my Daiwa reels slipping.

Why do you have to use a strap wrench to tighten down the reel on a $200.00 rod should fit like a glove for the amount of money you pay. I am still debating wether to buy one of these rods or not.

Bought 6 more

Postby NRHMike » 10/25/07 7:52pm

[b]Well, after using the 6 Kistler's I bought back in April, I have now purchased 6 more. Absolutely enjoy them. You guys need to expand your Rod line at Cabelas in Ft. Worth, TX. They told me they are hoping to add a complete full line rack very soon.

The seating problem HAS resolved itself. After a few weeks I had to keep tightening the reels on but they finally are secure. Just bought a composition Graphite /Glass 7 ' crankbait rod. I had a 6'6" and loved it. These rods are so sesitive you can feel the fish BREATHE on a lure. Gonna fish the Bass Cat Owners Tournament on Lake Guntersville in a couple of weeks and will give my Kistlers a GREAT workout. There is a Guide on the lake that swears by Kistler Rods. He uses the Helium's and I have the Magnesium and really I have found ZERO difference in the 2 rod types. Both are excellent choices if you are looking to purchase a quality rod at a reasonable Price (Under $200) in my book (Magnesium).

Thanks Kistler!!

Easy solution to slippage

Postby DrKurt » 11/10/07 8:23pm

Hey....I had a similar problem with Team Daiwa reels too, when I went to the tackle shop, they said they have the same issues with other top brands too. Something about certain reels. They suggested electrical tape, but that didn't sit well for me, so I simply go out momma's jar opener (you know, those cheap rubber circular things) and poof, no more problem.....I carry one on the boat with me and always tighten all my reels with it.......turns out, I guess I just wasn't as strong as a Kistler.......

Blessings

Congrats on the nice fish!!! :D
I have the 6'6" Crankbait Composite Glass/Graphite Mg TS rod with a Calcutta 200GTB on it and I've had no problems with the reel seat or any movement.

I have now fished my Kistler Rods for more than a year and absolutely love them. I have recently added 2 more 7' Crankbait Rods and 2 LTX Helium's. I have REVO StX and SX's on all of them. With using TRU-TUNGSTEN weights and these rods on a good flourocarbon line, man you can feel every little change. 14 rods and counting!

I am really looking forward to trying the new Carbon Steel and Argon rods as well. Kistler, will Cabela's be carrying these rods as well?

Thanks for a GREAT product...Keep 'em coming!!

Mike,

We really appreciate your kind words. We are also excited about the overwelming response already regarding the new 09 Carbon Steel and Argon rod lines.

You will most certainly be able to get these rods at your Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops and Gander Mountains and Academy Sports. Of course only select stores will stock certain models.

You can order online or through their web sites as well.

Watch for a presale of these rods coming in Nov!!!

Thanks again,
