after purchasing my first kistler a couple of weeks ago, i just had a chance to use it saturday - 9-4, the graphite series 7ft cranking special. not the composite, just the special. its rather um amazing to say the least. i throw pretty much the dt series rapalas, all(dt6-dt16's) on this rod and it was great it has a perfect tip (i was scared it was going to be to stiff but not at all). i got the special because the composite didnt appear to go hvy enough for the big dt-16's. well i had my first fish on it but i made a dumb mistake and allowed the fish to jump and it threw the hook. it was a nice fish to.

but after using this rod compared to the diawa tough and light series( a total of 4 i all bought this season are all getting replaced systematicly by kislter) the diawa's arent even in the same ball game as the kistler rod's. i just purchased the 6'6"m lta spinning rod(for the smaller fish somedays) and a 6'6"mh lta rod.
sorry for the rant but just really excited and anxiuos to try out my new rods when they arrive

Sorry about the lost fish  . I use the HE70MC's for my cr/baits. It's the best 'treble-hook' bait rod I've ever used and that includes my 7', Fenwick Techna AV's.

We are here to help yu through your 'problem' .

you are correct in your assumption

this forum is where it all started with me in the first place, saw the rods on another tackle site where I actually purchased the rods from. but I first did some investigating on them first, of course which led me here. I do watch prolly more fishing on tv then I actually get to fish :( and I saw alot of the pro's using the diawa t/l rods.which led me to them (what a costly mistake that was). but the kistler rods are catching on like wildfire on the tour. So I gave it a whirl.

now these are/soon to be the only rods I use and would ever suggest using.

just a question what reels do you guys use on your lta rod's
on my 7'crank special I have a tdx103p , on the spinning rod I will be using a shimano stradic mg. and my soon to be tdz103h I will using on my 6'6"m lta thats on the way.(i heard this combo may float?)

NEXT ON LIST IS A worm/jig stick I was looking at the 6'9"mh lta for that. what do you guys think. :?: I will be using a tdx103hsdf reel with the rod. I throw alot of brushhogs when I am wormin', and they are t-rigged.

thanks for the link, I have seen alot of those reel threads. I have no intention of starting another one either. I was just trying to figure out if I would be better off getting another light reel for my soon to be helium worm rod or i would be ok with my tdx103hsdf. I REALLY like my tdx103p, it has a 5.1:1 ratio. i use it for my crankbaits on my 7' cb special.
it doesnt weigh but just a bit more then the tdz103h. i think the h is at 6.2oz and the p weighs in at 6.8oz. but i think you told me what i was afraid of.though, but i think i will decide on a rod and use my 103hsdf and then go from there. If you didnt notice i stick with diawa baitcasters. not so picky on my spinning reels though.

i do alot of casting worms - not sure i could hit the broad side of a barn with a 7'6"rod.

and i thought my tdz103h was expensive - there is no way i could get one of those. thats just way out of my range. i think.

i think we need to get back on to rods, so you think 7'6" would be ok. i guess i need to learn how to pitch/flip better. i guess thats my biggest weakness when it comes to fishing.

I have a Kistler He76HC on order and I am in the same situation. Which reel to put on it. Which one the TDZ 103, the fuego, or the alpha if I go with the Daiwas, or which one of the Shimanos would you choose. I really like the Japan version of the Daiwa and Shimano reels. I will mostly be pitching 3/8 oz jigs with the new rod. The different color reels really look cool but I think I would use the extra money and order another Kistler rod. The He76HC will be my first one. I want the He69APC next and soon. By the way I will need a reel for that one also. This is the true NEVER Ending Story.

That link show's my favorite "pitching" reel. It's drag system(Dartanium) is superior to my Japanese/USA Daiwas IMO. I have a couple of TDZs and an Ito and I love their light-weight especially when matched to my HE70MC but I believe my Antares excell's when pitching and matched to my HE76EHC/HC rods.]

or which one of the Shimanos would you choose. I really like the Japan version of the Daiwa and Shimano reels. I will mostly be pitching 3/8 oz jigs with the new rod[b]
