what safety vest does every one use? I am looking at either BPS brand auto inflate or the mustang survival. has any one used these and if so what did you think?

I have the Mustang Survival. Very comfy. Mine isn't the hydrostatic activated one, though. The hydrostatic model only inflates when it senses a certain amount of hydrostatic pressure, so it can rain all day and it wont activate. I have been in the rain with mine and it hasn't activated.

My brother-in-law and I use the Stearns auto inflatible sport model when fishing tourneys.

They were a little more affordable than the Mustang ones, and fit well for all day fishing, and they're very easy to put on and adjust for whatever clothing you happen to be wearing for the weather.

I haven't gone overboard (thank God) and they have never gone off in heavy downpours either.

I use the Suspenders Sport Series.

I have the Mustang and found it to be more tiring than a foam life jacket-- it is a bit heavier-- and at the end of the day, I felt like I'd been wearing suspenders all day, which also makes my shoulders tired. This all might just be a personal problem. However, the Mustang is far less bulky than regular life jackets, making casting and everything else easier. Six of one...

I've tried them all. Just bought a couple of Mustang inflatables (3183s) and they are top-notch. Very comfortable and high quality. We fish out of a Skeeter bay boat (ZX22v) and don't feel quite the same need for high-impact protection that the 100 mph vests provide (I have some of them as well). I'm going to recommend the Mustang 3183 as my top choice.
